We are in search of a fourth person to join the Catholic Worker core community. The ideal person:
is committed to social justice, nonviolence, and peace
has a spiritual practice
has prior community living experience
*We are looking for a 1-year, renewable commitment
Other Preferred Qualities:
identifies as a woman or as gender non-binary
thrives in managing multiple projects and tasks
enjoys working with people
has gardening, permaculture, or urban farming experience
can comfortably perform physical labor, including lifting up to 30 lbs, cleaning, and yard work
has a passion or project they want to implement at Dandelion House
What to Expect: Community Life
Daily Life:
Weekdays begin at 7:30 a.m. with shared silent prayer, and end with an optional 7:30 p.m. sit
Daily work can include supporting hospitality guests, cooking, cleaning, gardening, office work, outreach to community & faith groups, and responding to unexpected needs
We value time for work, rest, play, and outside interests
We gather for community dinner 3 nights/week
We meet on Mondays to discuss the week and other agenda items
Finances and Other Support:
Full-time Catholic Workers receive a monthly stipend of $500; if more or less is desired based on your need, we are open to conversation and discernment
Health insurance is through the Oregon Health Plan
Other basic needs, including groceries and the use of communal vehicles are provided by Dandelion House
We meet every three weeks for our “Revision of Life,” during which we share deeply about how our work, community, and spiritual lives are going
